Police have raided Diego Maradona’s hotel room for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend, Rocio.
The couple are lodged at the Eurostars Suites Mirasierra n Madrid, Spain ahead of the Champions League tie between Real Madrid and Maradona’s former side, Napoli.
Reports in the Spanish media claim that Rocio called in the Police to report the case of what she refereed to as ‘strong argument’ between the pair.
The 26-year-old had earlier posted a picture of herself and her 56-year-old lover in a pool on Valentine’s day. Reports also have it that she has not filed for a case with the Police while they remained at the hotel for another two hours after the incident.
Maradona was accused of hitting a journalist who tried to interview in Madrid. The Argentine hero will a guest at the Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday night, when asked about the possible outcome of the match, Maradona said: ‘If I was a prophet, I wouldn’t need to be a player,’. but he is expected to cheer the Italian side where he played in the early 90s.
