I Will Participate In The 2face Anti-Govt Protest – Gov. Fayose

Ekiti state governor, Peter Ayodele Fayose, has pledged his support for the 2face Idibia-led national protest against the federal government.

There has been so much controversies since the singer called on Nigerians to join him in marching against the failures of the Buhari-led government to provide good governance to the citizens.

While many celebrities and Nigerian youths have supported the movement, 2face has endured intense scrutiny from pro-Buhari celebrities and personalities with some even attacking the singer’s private life.

And, despite 2face coming out to distance the protest from any political, religious or tribal affiliation, the march has been endorsed by Fayose, who insisted that he would be a part of the march come February 6, after the date was moved by one day so that the president would have returned to the country when the protest happens.

Soldier Sentenced To 7yrs In Prison For Shooting & Killing Of A Man In Maiduguri

SOLDIER BAGS 7 YEARS IMPRISONMENT FOR MANSLAUGHTER another 14 months for desertion The General Court Marshal (GCM) of 7 Division sitting in Maiduguri, Borno State has sentenced a serving soldier to seven (7) years imprisonment for manslaughter for shooting and killing one Mr. Umar Alkali within the popular Monday Market in Maiduguri metropolis on 23 December 2015. The soldier (name withheld) was found guilty of manslaughter punishable under Section (105) of the Armed Forces Act CAP A20 of the Laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 2004. The soldier's plea that he acted in self defence, that the deceased assaulted and tried to wrestle his rifle from him before he shot and killed him to save his life and that of his compatriots was set aside on the ground of use of disproportionate force. While dismissing the initial charge of murder leveled against the soldier the GCM upheld the charge of manslaughter. The President of the Court, Brigadier General Olusegun Adeniyi while delivering the verdict gave a detailed account of all the proceedings and relevant laws that guided the court at arriving at its decision. Another soldier (name withheld) was also found guilty of one count charge of desertion punishable under section 60 of the Act. He was sentenced to 14 months imprisonment. It will be recalled that the Acting General Officer Commanding 7 Division Brigadier General Victor Ezugwu in August 2016 inaugurated a General Court Marshal with the mandate of dealing with matters that may arise from activities of troops within the Division's area of responsibility and to ensure that troops work within the framework of their rules of engagement. While reading the rulings of the court, the President of GCM, Brigadier General Adeniyi admonished officers and soldiers to always maintain high level of discipline, respect for human rights and strict adherence to rules of engagement and other laws guiding their conducts. The weekend is almost here and we all know the weekend is a time to relax and go ‘clubbing’. Clubbing most often than not happens on Friday night, it involves dressing up, having drinks, something to nibble on, and off course dancing! Going to the club, one has to be prepared to have a nice time, so here are some tips to ensure that you are well equipped for a crazy night out.

1. Sufficient funds: Have enough money when you are headed clubbing but do not take your ATM card, this is a pre-cautionary move, so that you don’t spend too much and also you don’t do anything stupid if you get drunk

2.  Food: Do not go clubbing on an empty stomach, especially if you drink alcohol, it only makes your hangover (if you have one) worse.

3.  Charge your phone: Never go clubbing with a low battery level, emergencies may arise.

4. Transportation: Have in mind how you are going to get to the club and back home, very important, you don’t want to be stranded at four in the morning.

5.  Deodorant: The dance floors at clubs are usually crowded and body odour can be a problem so make sure that at least YOU aren’t one of the people with body odour. Especially if you love to dance, you will sweat but at least you’ll still smell good.

6.  Go with friends: Going to the club alone defeats the purpose, go with friends for a more fun night; you don’t want to be sitting on a table with strangers.

Let’s Talk About Friends With Benefit

My mind just drifts off every now and then and I find myself ruminating on various situations and phenomenon that I find quite intriguing(these things could also include money, alcohol, women, and the almighty academics, but what can I say, it’s a hardknock life but YOLO mehn!) and then I stumble on this movie that featured Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis titled Friends With Benefits and I also remember I watched the other one that carries on the same theme, No Strings Attached which featured Ashton Kutcher and one other chick like this (can’t really remember her name again) and one thing struck me-the recurring theme of FWB-ism that seems to be quite the practice these days. The first time I heard the term Friends With Benefits was in that serial called One Tree Hill, if you haven’t watched it, it’s one long boring sob tale of a group of people who fall in love, fall out of it, cheat on one another, concoct scandals and bamboozle you with moral lessons that are meant to get you thinking about your life!*sigh*I know right? That serial spanned nine seasons! I stopped at the sixth season mehn. It started feeling like I was watching a reality show very much like that IQ dropping one called Keeping Up With The Kardashians. Sweardown that show will make you dumb, you can ask Banky W, he’ll tell you the same thing!
Okay, let us return to the topic at hand, now where was I? Ah yes, Friends With Benefits. You see this issue came into practice to give people the opportunity to eat their cake and have it. Guy meets girl, guy does not want to commit to girl and same goes for the girl but both cannot deny the intense sexual chemistry hovering between the two of them so they come up with a win-win situation, they both get to explore their sexual fantasies and have timeless, no holds barred sex. When one person is in the mood for some action, he calls the other person(the word is bootycall, and yes, more often than not, the girl exercises this power) and they can both say hello to a thrilling ménage-a-trois featuring guy, girl and bed or couch/ office table/carpet/car seat. The guy(the reverse could be the case, I’m just speculating here cos heck, I’m a guy) tells the girl he’s tired of playing games and wants more, the girl says she is not sure if she wants a relationship(girls, always confused) and she needs to clear her head. She feels they had a great time and wonders what sort of weed the guy consumed that made him decide to spoil things. After that things might go downhill from there. Awkward silence, drifting, calls entering into voicemail and all that.Now two things could happen here, the girl could warm up to the guy and give the bloke a chance allowing the birth of a happily ever after relationship, or, the babe could, in simple terms, change it for the guy. He ends up the loser who lost not only a friend but even the benefit he so treasures(trust me when I say this, guys love the benefit a.k.a the cookie).

Corruption: Bankers Confirm N30m Transfer Between Justice Admola’s Wife, Agi

Officers of Zenith Bank Plc and Guaranty Trust Bank Plc on Wednesday confirmed the transfers of a cumulative sum of N30m between the accounts of a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Mr. Joe Agi, and Mrs. Olabowale, a wife of a serving judge of a Federal High Court, Justice Adeniyi Ademola, in March 2015.

Testifying as the eighth prosecution witness in the ongoing joint trial of Justice Ademola, Ajuwon, a Zenith Bank employee confirmed the transfer of N8m from Agi’s law firm, Joe Agi & Associates, to Coscharis Motors Limited, for the purchase of a BMW 320i car.

The prosecution had alleged that the car was meant for the Justice Ademola as gratification.

Guaranty Trust Bank Plc official, Suky Ambrose, testified before the court as the ninth prosecution witness.

Ajuwon tendered the statements of account and other documents relating to the account being operated by Joe Agi & Associates with Zenith Bank Plc.

Also Ambrose also tendered similar bank documents relating to an account being operated by Olabowale with GTB.

The documents were admitted as exhibits by the trial judge, Justice Jude Okeke.

The Federal Government is prosecuting the trio of Justice Ademola, his wife and Agi on 16 counts bordering on receiving and giving of gratifications.

Among the 16 counts preferred against the defendants, it was alleged that on January 5, 2015, in his capacity as a public servant, Justice Ademola “corruptly received from Joe Odey Agi a BMW Saloon 320i valued at N8,500,000 through your son, Ademide Ademola, as gratification in the exercise of your official functions as the judge of the Federal High Court of Nigeria”.

The prosecution also alleged in about five other counts, that Justice Ademola and his wife, received gratification of N30m in three instalments of N10m each from Joe Agi and Associates between March 11 and March 26, 2015.

Led in evidence by the lead prosecuting counsel, Mr. Segun Jegede,

Fielding questions from the prosecuting counsel, Ajuwon who gave his answers from the Zenith Bank account of Joe Agi & Associates, said on January 5, 2015, there was transfer of N8m to Coscharis Motors Limited.

Fayose Approves CONMESS for Ekiti Medical Doctors Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose at a meeting with Executives of the Ekiti State Council of Nigeria Medical Association(NMA) in Afao Ekiti on Wednesday approved the Consolidated Medical Salary Structure for medical doctors in Ekiti State. CONMESS is a special salary scale that medical doctors in the state has been agitating for over the past four months. Governor Fayose who spoke with newsmen after the meeting explained that he would have approved the special package long before now but for the economic downturn being experienced in the state. He said: "but for the dip in our finances, we ought to have done this before but it is better late than never. CONMESS is an allowance the doctors have been agitating about for a while, we have been on it for about 3/4 months but today we have resolved it, I have given approval that the government will pay with effect from March 2017. The government will keep to its word and we'll ensure payment. Chairman, Ekiti State Council of the Nigeria Medical Association, Dr. Sunday Omoya in his reaction expressed appreciation for the governor’s approval of the salary structure. He assured Ekiti people that the government's action will bring about improved performance on the part of medical personnel in the state. "We came as an association to see governor Fayose for an issue we have been agitating for for some months, the welfare of our members and particularly the revision of our CONMESS circular structure, the circular structure took effect some years back, federal institutions and some states have been enjoying it but we are glad that today, ours have been approved by the governor and it will take effect from 1st of March, 2017. "We know he is a governor that keep his words, he signed it right before us, we are sure implementation will commence as scheduled. We are happy to be one of the states that have achieved this feat. As an association, the NMA always show our gratitude to the governor in respect to what we do to people of the state, in respect to our performance at work and I want to assure the people of the state once again that they will see doctors in the state perform their duty with renewed commitment, with improved morale and our service delivery will be significantly affected by some of these things the governor is doing for us", Dr. Omoya said.

Below is a statement from the presidency; Moved by the need to enhance affordability of food prices across country, the Buhari administration has constituted a Presidential Task Force to urgently consider measures that would ensure a steady flow of produce to the market and reverse recent price increases. Giving the directive today at the Federal Executive Council meeting, Acting President Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, expressed concern at some of the inflationary rates of food prices, noting that the Task Force will explore options to promote availability and affordability of food items to Nigerians. According to him, the Task Force, which has seven days from today to report back to the Council will consider how to remove some of the cost-raising factors that come into play between the farms and the markets and therefore "bring relief to our people." While there have been reports of bumper harvests in parts of the country, the prices of food stuff still end up rather high, while some of the produce even end up wasted due to a number of reasons preventing effective transportation delivery to the markets. One of the focus areas of the Task Force, the Ag. President noted, would be to review the transportation and preservation processes, and see how government can intervene in those aspects to bring down food prices. The Task Force, which would be meeting with the Ag. President in the discharge of its urgent assignment, will therefore draw out a practical plan and present same to the Council next week. Members of the Task Force include the following: Minister of Agriculture & Rural Development, Chief Audu Ogbeh Minister of Finance, Mrs Kemi Adeosun Minister of Industry, Trade & Development, Dr. Okey Enelamah Minister of Transportation, Honorable Rotimi Amaechi Minister for Water Resources, Engr. Suleiman Minister of Labour & Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige The Offices of the Chief of Staff to the President and the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals, SDGs, would also be on the Task Force.
