New Updates: Scroll Box + List Builder = mind blown

Here's what's new in Sumo

Hey Sumos! Sean here, and I’ve got two yuuuuge product updates for your Sumo lives.

Let’s dig in.

Big Update #1: Scroll Box Now Part Of List Builder

If you’re keeping score at home, we’ve done a lot recently to make List Builder the most badass email capture tool on the planet:

  • We overhauled the user experience, making it easier to create popups and A/B test everything.
  • We added Auto Responder, allowing you to automatically email your new subscribers without an email service provider.

As part of that process, we’ve taken Scroll Box and rolled it into List Builder.

Instead of opening two different apps to create similar popups, we took all the functions of Scroll Box and put them in List Builder.

Now, when you create a popup in List Builder, you can select “Scroll Box” in the “Form Type” step:

If it’s your first time using this function, you’ll see this screen when you click on “Scroll Box”:

Click “Import” and all your existing popups in Scroll Box will automatically move to List Builder (you’ll see the same thing if you log into your Scroll Box app).

NOTE: We HIGHLY recommend you do this, because you’ll get all the List Builder features like A/B testing, drag and drop and Auto Responder.

Congratulations -- you now have the power of List Builder behind every Scroll Box you create.

Big Update #2: Auto Responder Emails Are Now A No-Brainer

We’re surprised and not surprised at the same time. We aren’t surprised because we knew Auto Responder would be a hit.

But we’re surprised because we didn’t know just HOW big a hit it would be.

Thousands of emails are sent every day in Auto Responder. It’s one of the easiest, most affordable (read: FREE) solutions to instantly email your new subscribers.

As such, we’re helping more of you start off on the right foot with you new subscribers by turning on Auto Responder for every new popup you create.

Whenever you create a new popup, we’ll automatically send our standard “Welcome Email” to your new subscribers:

You can easily go in and edit this template, use one of our pre-made templates or create your own email in the “Success” step in List Builder.

And don’t worry! If you’re already an email master and you have your own automated emails set up through a different provider, we alert you before you hit “Publish” and you can turn off Auto Responder at any time:

And you can easily toggle your Auto Responder emails on and off in the main dashboard:

One of the worst things you can do is leave new subscribers hanging in the dark by not talking to them immediately. With this update, they’ll never feel abandoned again.

Click here to use Auto Responder in List Builder.

Additional Update:

List Builder 3 Is Now Being Renamed….List Builder!

Alright, so it’s not a dramatic change. But we’re officially dropping the 3 in List Builder. The old version of List Builder will now be called “Legacy List Builder.”

If you’re using Legacy List Builder, now is a great time to update to List Builder. All you do is turn on List Builder, and click “Yes” to import all your popups from Legacy List Builder. You won’t lose a thing and everything will keep on working.

Click here to update to List Builder.

Keep your eyes on your inbox for our next update. Let’s just say Smart Bar is going to pull a neat lil’ trick.

Enjoy the new updates,

New Updates: List Builder 3 news, Auto Responder templates and more

Here's what new in Sumo

Hey Sumos! Sean here, back with some more important updates from the developer world. This round of updates brings new features, email templates and some cool ways to get ideas within the app.

Behold!

Big Update: List Builder 3 Form Types

List Builder 3 is the most versatile email capture tool on the planet (maybe universe?). There are tons of ways to use it, but there wasn’t ever a way to easily see how you were using any given popup.

We’ve changed that with the addition of Form Types. When you log into List Builder 3, you’ll see a new column titled “Form.” Next to each popup, you’ll see an icon that tells you how that popup is appearing:

These are the types of icons you’ll see right now (with more on the way):

And when you create a new popup in List Builder 3, you’ll see a new step called “Form Type.” This is where you’ll select what type of popup you want to create -- standard, inline or click trigger:

This new addition means click triggers no longer require their own display rules. Click triggers will display on any page you place them, so all you need to do is copy the click trigger code in the “Visibility” tab:

Additional Updates

Auto Responder Email Templates and New Toolbar

Ok. So it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see you all LOVE the new Auto Responder feature. Since the last time we talked, we’ve seen over 23,000 emails sent by y’all through Auto Responder.

Since it’s being used quite a bit (read: a buttload), we doubled down and added two new game-changing updates.

First, we’ve added three new email templates to Auto Responder. Hovering over the “Add New Email” button gives you three email options:

Clicking on an option sends you to a pre-written email template you can send to anyone who opts-in to that specific popup. The templates are:

  • Welcome Email: A standard email to welcome your new subscribers to your list.
  • Coupon Code Email: Giving away a discount on your site? Ask visitors for an email address, then send them this email with your discount code inside.
  • Content Upgrade Email: Instantly send your subscribers their content upgrade with this email.

All you have to do is go into those templates, replace a few words to make it your own and BAM...you’re ready to roll.

Which brings us to the second update on Auto Responder -- a new toolbar editor. Before, you needed to write everything in Markdown (kinda like HTML, but different). To make it easier to edit your templates, we’ve added a standard editor so you can create/edit emails without knowing Markdown:

With the click of a button, you can add images, link text, create lists and stylize your text. If you haven’t used Auto Responder yet, you really need to jump on board now.

New Tooltips Throughout The App

One last thing. Sometimes you’re working in Sumo and you have a question. Instead of having to write into the support team, we’ve started adding tooltips throughout the app. They show up as little question marks, and clicking one will bring up relevant articles to help you out:

Say I was confused on how to integrate AWeber:

I could click the question mark and get a relevant article on the subject:

We’ve just started rolling these out, but you’ll see them more and more in the near future.

Keep your eyes on your inbox for our next update.

Enjoy the new updates,
