Jema’a Local Government Council authority of Kaduna State has imposed a 24 hour curfew on Kafanchan and its environs to prevent further break down of law and order following a massive protest by youths of Kafanchan.

The youths have been protesting what they called unending killings in Southern Kaduna and the inability of the government and security agents to put the situation under control.

Gov. El-Rufai was at the Emir of Jema’a’s palace today, where he vowed to bring to book perpetrators of the protest that led to the destruction of property in Kafanchan metropolis.

El-Rufa’i, after inspecting the extent of destruction, said the dastardly act must not be allowed to continue. He told the Emir to caution the people, especially the youths, against engaging in criminal acts as doing so could attract the wrath of the law.

Meanwhile, women in their hundreds stormed the Jema’a local government secretariat, naked, to disrupt a security meeting chaired by Gov. El-rufai.

The women alleged that soldiers had followed some of the youths who were embarking on a protest, shooting sporadically, killing one and injuring many.
